BMC is set to construct a four-lane underground tunnel between Kandivli and Malad for the Coastal Road. The project includes twin 3.9-km tunnels that will be excavated using giant tunnel boring machines. Approximately 45,000 mangroves in the project’s influence zone will be affected, raising environmental concerns. The tunnels are scheduled for completion by 2027 and aim to alleviate traffic congestion.
