Mumbai’s crime branch is now investigating Ramesh Kamble for allegedly using a forged caste certificate in the 2002 BMC elections. An initial investigation by Chembur police resulted in a closure report that was deemed unsatisfactory by the complainant. Advocate Chitra Salunkhe filed a writ petition seeking a re-investigation which prompted intervention by the Bombay High Court. The court directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to transfer the case for further examination.
