Mumbai’s crime branch has taken over the investigation of former BMC corporator Ramesh Kamble’s 2002 election case. Kamble allegedly submitted a forged caste certificate to contest the election reserved for Scheduled Castes. A complaint filed by advocate Chitra Salunkhe led to this renewed investigation, after initial findings were deemed inconclusive. The Divisional Caste Verification Committee had previously invalidated his caste certificate in 2005.
