Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday said that the activists supporting the organisation were getting police notices and were being pressured not to participate in agitations.
In a post on X, Dipke wrote, “Maharashtra Police is sending notices to CJP volunteers asking for their Delhi travel expenses and threatening that the protest could turn violent.”
In the same post he question, how can they make such a claim? Is something already being planned to disrupt our peaceful protest? Is protecting Gyanu (CEC Gyanesh Kumar) more important than the safety and security of citizens?
Addressing a press conference in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dipke claimed that the Chandrapur police had served notices to CJP activists, asking them not to participate in the October 10 agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and questioning them about the source of funds for their travel expenses.
“I have said multiple times that the Maharashtra Police is the best police force in the country, and the Delhi Police should learn from them. But it is heartbreaking that the Chandrapur police served notices to CJP workers, telling them not to participate in the agitation at Jantar Mantar. They also asked about the source of the expenses for travelling to Jantar Mantar,” he said, according to the PTI.
Targeting the BJP-led government, Dipke also claimed ‘One Nation, One Election’ was merely a slogan and that the intention was “one nation, one political party”.
Delhi protest
The CJP have announced a protest in Delhi on October 10.
Last week, Abhijeet Dipke joined in thousands of protesters at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park in Dadar to protest, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

Hours after the protest was over, Dipke announced an agitation in Delhi on October 10 amid the ongoing row over the Election Commission and electoral roll revision.
In a post on X, Abhijeet Dipke had said that supporters from across India would march to Delhi and protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Kumar remained in office. He said the proposed agitation would be peaceful and claimed that protesters would continue their march even if stopped by the Delhi Police.
Protest on Gandhi Jayanti
A massive protest was held at Shivaji Park on Gandhi Jayanti, with police and security personnel deployed in large numbers around the area.
Protesters carried the national flag and placards bearing messages such as “Gyanesh BRO, JUST RESIGN”.
Addressing the gathering, he said that the CJP would follow the path of Mahatma Gandhi and described the proposed Delhi protest as a peaceful andolan.
He said the organisation would hold its protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Kumar did not resign, and questioned how the Delhi Police would respond to the proposed demonstration.
Dipke also referred to the police action witnessed during an earlier protest on July 20, saying the government and police would have to decide whether to respect the protesters’ right to peaceful assembly.
CJP’s demand
The CJP has been demanding Kumar’s resignation over its concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the functioning of the Election Commission.
The organisation has also called for greater transparency in the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and demanded that the 2025 voter list be frozen.
The agitation follows an Indian Express report that said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had recorded objections on at least 14 occasions over a 10-month period concerning decisions and orders related to the electoral rolls and SIR.
