Central Railway will operate special traffic and power blocks at Kasara for 12 days from October 7 to 18 to carry out work related to the Asangaon-Kasara third line project and the extension of the UP yard line towards Igatpuri, an official statement said.
The railway has announced changes to suburban, Mail and Express train services during the first phase of the work from October 7 to 9.
The blocks are being carried out for pre-Non-Interlocking (NI), Non-Interlocking and post-NI work at Kasara Yard.
Suburban services between Asangaon and Kasara will not be available during the block periods, it said.
On October 7 and 8, several CSMT-Kasara locals will be short-terminated at Asangaon. The CSMT-Kasara locals departing CSMT at 1.10 pm, 2.17 pm, 2.46 pm and 4.50 pm will terminate at Asangaon.
Similarly, Kasara-CSMT locals scheduled to leave Kasara at 3.35 pm, 4.16 pm, 5.02 pm and 6.17 pm will instead originate from Asangaon at 4.12 pm, 4.54 pm, 5.39 pm and 6.54 pm, respectively.
The last local from CSMT to Kasara before the block on October 7 and 8 will depart at 12.30 pm, while the last Kasara-CSMT local will leave Kasara at 2.42 pm, the statement said.
The first CSMT-Kasara local after the block will depart CSMT at 6.28 pm, while the first Kasara-CSMT local will leave Kasara at 8.35 pm.
Four suburban trains cancelled
Four suburban services will be cancelled during the overnight block on October 8 and 9.
These are:
– CSMT-Kasara local departing CSMT at 10.47 pm on October 8
– CSMT-Kasara local departing CSMT at 12.08 am on October 9
– Titwala-Thane local departing Titwala at 11.14 pm on October 8
– Kasara-CSMT local departing Kasara at 3.51 am on October 9
The last CSMT-Kasara local before the overnight block will depart CSMT at 9.32 pm, while the last Kasara-CSMT local will leave Kasara at 10 pm.
The first CSMT-Kasara local after the block will depart at 4.19 am, while the first Kasara-CSMT local will leave Kasara at 4.59 am.
Long-distance trains rescheduled
Several Mail and Express trains will also be rescheduled.
The affected services include the LTT-Banaras Express, LTT-Patliputra Express, CSMT-Amritsar Express, CSMT-Banaras Mahanagri Express and LTT-Gorakhpur Kushinagar Express.
Among the changes:
– 12167 LTT-Banaras Express on October 8 will depart LTT at 4 am on October 9.
– 12141 LTT-Patliputra Express on October 8 will depart LTT at 4.15 am on October 9.
– 11057 CSMT-Amritsar Express on October 8 will depart CSMT at 4 am on October 9.
– 22177 CSMT-Banaras Mahanagri Express on October 9 will depart CSMT at 4.15 am.
– 22538 LTT-Gorakhpur Kushinagar Express on October 9 will depart CSMT at 4.30 am.
Several trains to be regulated
Several long-distance trains will be regulated at Igatpuri, Khardi and Atgaon during the block.
The Gorakhpur-LTT Express will be regulated at Igatpuri for 1 hour and 45 minutes on October 7, while the Gomti Nagar-CSMT Pushpak Express will be regulated for 1 hour and 40 minutes on October 7 and 8.
The Ayodhya Cantt-LTT Express will be regulated at Igatpuri for 1 hour and 45 minutes on October 8.
The Ballia-Dadar Express and Shalimar-LTT Jananeshwari Express will also be regulated at Igatpuri during the overnight block on October 9.
The Dadar-Gorakhpur Express will be regulated at Khardi for one hour, while the LTT-Rajgir Express will be regulated at Atgaon for 30 minutes on October 8.
Several trains on the Bhusaval Division will also face regulation of between 30 minutes and 1 hour 25 minutes.
More trains likely to be delayed
Central Railway said several trains could be delayed due to regulation and bunching of services.
The affected trains include the Sainagar Shirdi-CSMT Vande Bharat Express, Kamayani Express, Amritsar-CSMT Express, Kushinagar Express, Jaynagar-LTT Express, Panvel-Gorakhpur Express and LTT-Sitapur Express, among others.
Services affected on October 8 include the LTT-Gorakhpur Express, LTT-Rani Kamlapati Express and LTT-Chhapra Antyoday Express.
The CSMT-Nagpur Sevagram Express, CSMT-Balharshah Nandigram Express and CSMT-Howrah Duronto Express are also expected to face delays on October 7 and 8.
Central Railway said details of the blocks after October 8-9 would be announced later.
Third line project
The Asangaon-Kasara third line is part of the larger third and fourth line project between Kasara and Kalyan.
According to Central Railway, the additional line will help segregate Mail and Express trains from suburban services, increase line capacity and improve the regulation and movement of trains.
The railway said the full operational benefits would be available after the entire project is completed and commissioned.
Central Railway has requested passengers to bear with the administration for the inconvenience caused during the infrastructure work.
