Train services beyond Badlapur were severely disrupted during the morning rush hour on Tuesday due to a rail fracture between Badlapur and Vangani stations on the Karjat-bound line. The incident, which occurred around 7:00 am, affected suburban, mail/express, and freight train operations, causing widespread delays.
According to a railway spokesperson, the rail fracture was detected at kilometre marker 74/24 and restoration efforts commenced shortly thereafter. “Since 7.00 am, down (Karjat-bound) trains were detained for a few minutes and then restoration work was undertaken,” the official said.
The line was successfully restored by 8:36 am, and services have since resumed. “Train services between Badlapur and Karjat have resumed smoothly. A local train departed from Badlapur railway station towards Karjat at 8:36 AM,” the spokesperson confirmed.
The disruption led to considerable inconvenience for commuters heading towards Karjat during peak morning hours.
