During the ongoing investigation into Zubeen Garg`s death, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) discovered a major cash transaction of around Rs 1 crore in the bank accounts of two of the singer`s personal security officers (PSOs).
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the state government has requested that the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department investigate the financial aspects of the Zubeen Garg death case.
New development in Zubeen Garg`s case
The Times of India reported Sarma as stating, “I hope the central agencies will take cognisance of it.”
On September 19, singer Zubeen Garg died in Singapore under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea. He had traveled to Southeast Asia to attend the fourth annual North East India Festival, which was organized by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his firm.
The Assam Chief Minister claimed on Monday that, with the exception of one, seven others who were present with singer Zubeen Garg during his final moments in Singapore had failed to answer to the CID summons.
Sarma stated that Rupkamal Kalita, who was present on the yacht when Garg died, has responded to the SIT`s summons to investigate his death. “Rupkamal Kalita has informed the police that he will come to Guwahati on Tuesday,” Mr. Himanta added.
He went on to say that they are unwilling to come for a variety of reasons. “However, at least one individual has agreed to come. “We believe that if one comes, the others will follow,” the Chief Minister stated.
The state CID is currently investigating Garg`s death after more than 60 FIRs were filed across the state against Shyamkanu Mahanta, the chief organiser of the North East India Festival, where the singer was scheduled to perform, and nearly ten others, including his manager Siddharth Sharma and band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amrit Prabha Mahanta.
These four people have been arrested in the case and sentenced to 14 days in police custody apiece.
Bandmate`s shocking accusations
Earlier, the bandmate accused manager Siddhartha Sharma of poisoning Zubeen Garg. In his statement, he mentioned that Zubeen was allegedly frothing at the mouth and nose. Siddharth was heard saying, “Jabo de, jabo de” (let him go).
The bandmate accused Siddharth of dismissing important symptoms, such as frothing at the mouth, as `acid reflux` rather than seeking immediate medical assistance, and witnesses believe this negligence contributed significantly to Zubeen`s death.
