Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is not officially on any social media platform. However, he has admitted to having a fake Instagram account (commonly known as a “finsta”), which even his wife, actress Alia Bhatt, has confirmed. The Bollywood actor, however, has not shared many details about the account.
Ranbir Kapoor on his finsta account
At a recent event in Dubai, which he attended with Alia, Ranbir spoke about his Instagram presence. When asked if he was on social media, he said, “Not officially on Instagram. I do have a… what’s that word… finsta, which is a fake Insta account. There are so many amazing people doing such inspirational work, and I want to follow them. But because I’m an actor, I didn’t want to officially be on Instagram. Then I’d have the responsibility to show myself off to the world, and I feel I already do that through my movies. That’s enough for me.”
Ranbir added that he’s been asked about his social media presence many times over the past decade, so he often gives different answers. Revealing what’s on his private account, he said, “Actually, on my finsta account, I did make a reel with my daughter Raha and posted it. But I have no followers, so it’s just for the air.”
Why is Alia not allowed to follow Ranbir on Insta?
Alia then revealed that he doesn’t even let her follow him. “He wouldn’t even let me follow him. He’s like, ‘No, because if you follow me, everyone will follow me.’ So I peek into his phone. He has all of two reels on his finsta account that only he and maybe two people will see,” she laughed. Ranbir explained, “Listen, if she follows me, the world will get to know.”
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor on protecting their daughter
Earlier this year, on Alia`s birthday, the couple urged the paparazzi to avoid clicking pictures of their daughter. Alia clarified that while the couple doesn’t plan on going the legal route, they will have no choice should people not comply with their request. She said, “We don’t want to push any sort of action, but we’ll be left with no choice if people don’t listen. Wait for Raha to cross or cover her face while clicking pictures.” According to NDTV, she also reportedly explained, “My worst nightmare is someone breaking in and taking Raha away.”
Ranbir said that they consider the paparazzi like family and would hope they understand their request and consider it. He added, “It might sound like a privileged problem. But as parents, we are trying to do as much as we can to protect our child. Anybody with a camera phone can post it, it’s not in our control. But we are just asking for help.” He also spoke of how Alia was once clicked at their home, which was a breach of privacy, saying, “We understand there’s curiosity, but there’s a line you cannot cross.”
