A tree branch fell on an auto-rickshaw near Bethany Hospital on Pokhran Road No. 2 in Maharashtra`s Thane district on Thursday morning, but fortunately, no one was injured.
The incident occurred around 8:48 AM while the vehicle, was travelling from Majivada towards Bethany Hospital. The rickshaw was carrying the driver and his wife at the time, according to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
Officials from the Thane Disaster Management Department, along with firefighters, rushed to the scene with Fire Vehicle 01. The passengers safely exited the rickshaw when the branch fell, preventing any injuries.
Authorities said the fallen branch was cut and removed from the road. However, the rickshaw sustained damage to its front portion and roof due to the impact.
Haryana: National-level teen player crushed by basketball pole in Rohtak
A teen national-level player died in a freak accident on a basketball court in Haryana’s Rohtak, after the iron pole of the basketball hoop fell on him, police said on Wednesday. Hardik Rathi, 16, died after the iron pole of a basketball hoop fell on his chest during practice.
The incident on Tuesday was captured on CCTV camera. The footage showed Hardik, who earlier took part in the national sub-junior basketball championship, reaching for the hoop, but as soon as he attempts to hang from it, the pole collapses and crushes him under it.
Other players sitting on the court side in the sports complex at Lakhan Majra village rushed Hardik to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, local SHO Samarjeet Singh said. Holding the sports department and the government responsible for his brother’s death, Khadak Singh said Hardik never missed any competition, be it U-14 or U-17, as it was his dream to lead the Indian basketball team one day.
Maharashtra: Seven injured as Shivshahi bus collides with CNG truck on Mumbai-Goa highway
A serious accident occurred on the Mumbai–Goa highway near Mangaon in Raigad district on Wednesday morning. Seven passengers were injured after a Shivshahi bus collided with a truck transporting CNG cylinders. Following the incident, traffic on the busy highway came to a complete halt, according to reports.
The bus was travelling from Mumbai to Malvan when the collision took place. The accident caused significant damage to one side of the Shivshahi bus, and the impact raised concerns of a potential CNG leak from the truck.
As per reports, to prevent any untoward incident, police rushed to the spot and immediately stopped traffic in both directions. As a result, long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the highway, causing severe inconvenience to commuters.
Given the risk of a gas leak, fire brigade personnel and emergency response teams reached the site and are working to stabilise the situation. The injured passengers have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Mangaon police have launched an investigation into the accident.
