The suburban railway station at Targhar, located near the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport , will open for local train services on the Port Line of Belapur–Nerul–Uran from Monday. The launch coincides with the operationalisation of Gavan station and the introduction of five additional pairs of suburban services on the Uran line.
“Central Railway has introduced five additional pairs of local trains on the Belapur/Nerul–Uran corridor from tomorrow [Monday]. With this addition, the total number of daily services on the Uran line has increased from 40 to 50, significantly easing commuter movement. Simultaneously, two new suburban railway stations — Targhar and Gavan — have been operationalised, further strengthening last-mile connectivity in the rapidly developing Uran belt,” confirmed Chief Public Relations Officer Dr Swapnil Nila.
Targhar Station, located close to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, will be the nearest suburban railway station to the airport, offering substantial convenience to passengers and airport-bound commuters. Gavan Station, on the other hand, will improve access for local residents and enhance suburban rail coverage in the region.
Railway officials stated that the enhanced services aim to improve peak-hour frequency, reduce overcrowding, and ensure smoother and faster travel for daily commuters. The introduction of new stations and increased train frequency is expected to support the region’s growing population and infrastructure development, especially in view of the upcoming international airport.

Uran: First train at 5.35 am; last train at 10.05 pm
