Soha Ali Khan: I don’t want to exploit my connection with Kareena

Are you investing wisely? Are you doing strength training to improve your bone density? Have you tested your progesterone level? These were among the many questions that Soha Ali Khan asked her friends, after consulting financial and wellness experts as she experienced changes in her body and mind since turning 45 in October 2023. She recalls, “I had fascinating conversations with each of them. Then I thought, ‘Why don’t I call some of these people and record this?’” From there was born her podcast, All About Her.

Set to première on August 22 on YouTube, the podcast will feature celebrity guests, including actor and Khan’s sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan, former Member of Parliament Smriti Irani, actors Hina Khan, Sunny Leone, and Patralekhaa. They will be joined by experts as they explore a bouquet of subjects — from women’s health to in vitro fertilisation (IVF), from gender transition to epilepsy. “I wanted to have an expert, and relatable celebrities because they are role models. I want people to be inspired by these guests,” explains Khan.

Who’s on the guest list?: Smriti Irani, Malaika Arora, Patralekhaa and Sunny Leone

Kapoor certainly fit the bill of inspirational guests. When having a family member as a guest, Khan says she followed one thumb rule. “I tried to navigate the episode in a way that I didn’t want to exploit my connection with her. When you are a superstar like Kareena and so much of your life is dissected, people sometimes forget that you’re a person, not a product. It’s important to be sensitive to that.” As they discussed parenting, Khan was mindful of choosing wholesome conversations over attention-grabbing quotes. “I was aware that this is somebody who I love, who has been so kind. More than her, I was hyper aware of the fact that I didn’t want her to say anything that she is not comfortable sharing with the world. We spoke about positive parenting. As public personalities, we are private about our children. So, if I’ll protect Inaya’s [her daughter] privacy, I’ll protect her children’s privacy as well. Also, I’m not trying to get click-bait [content]; the idea is to build a community.”
