Shrikant Shinde appointed NDA’s authorised representative for VP election

Shiv Sena parliamentary party leader and MP Shrikant Shinde has been appointed as the authorised representative of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential election, scheduled for Tuesday, the party announced.

According to a press release issued by Shinde’s office in Thane on Monday, the BJP-led NDA has entrusted him with this key role, reflecting the alliance’s continued trust in the Shiv Sena, one of its oldest and most reliable partners.

The Vice Presidential election will see a direct contest between NDA candidate C P Radhakrishnan and Opposition nominee B Sudershan Reddy, following the unexpected resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar. With its numerical strength, the NDA holds a clear edge, as per the news agency PTI.

Shrikant Shinde expressed confidence in the NDA’s victory, stating, “The NDA’s candidate will win with a large majority.” The release also noted that Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has already declared full support for the NDA nominee.

In preparation for the election, a meeting of Shiv Sena MPs was held in New Delhi on Monday, chaired by Shrikant Shinde. The session focused on finalising election strategy and briefing MPs on voting procedures and guidelines. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal was also present at the meeting.

In addition to Shinde, Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Ram Mohan Naidu will also serve as authorised representatives of the NDA candidate, the release said, reported PTI.

Shrikant Shinde is a Member of Parliament from the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency in Thane district, Maharashtra.

Ex-vice prez Dhankhar seeks `suitable` govt bungalow in Delhi

Former vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar has requested a government bungalow in line with his entitlement, nearly six weeks after his resignation from the post, sources said on Monday.

They mentioned that Dhankhar, who is eligible for a Type-VIII bungalow, wrote to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) Ministry around 10 days ago, asking for “suitable” government accommodation.

Last week, the former vice-president moved from the VP Enclave to a private farmhouse, owned by INLD leader Abhay Chautala, in the Chhatarpur area of south Delhi.
