Salman Khan, Sidharth Malhotra mourn the death of Varinder Singh Ghuman

Actor Varinder Singh Ghuman recently passed away at the age of 42 after suffering a heart attack in Amritsar. His passing away left the film industry and his fans in shock. The Punjabi actor and professional bodybuilder was seen in several Hindi films, including Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 and the Sidharth Malhotra–Riteish Deshmukh starrer Marjaavaan.

Superstar Salman Khan, on the 10th of October, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express grief over the sudden death of professional bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman. Salman shared a throwback picture with Ghuman from the sets of his movie Dabangg and wrote, “Rest In Peace, Pra. Will Miss You, Paaji.” Salman is seen donning the uniform of a policeman in his role of Chulbul Pandey in the movie Dabangg. He stands alongside Varinder, who was also a part of the movie, in the picture.

Sidharth Malhotra also paid his tribute on his Instagram stories. He shared a photo with Varinder Singh Ghuman from the sets of  Marjaavaan. Expressing grief over his co-actor’s demise, Sidharth wrote, “Om Shanti,” along with a heartbreak emoji. The throwback picture features Sidharth and Varinder Singh Ghuman on the film set, posing next to each other.

Meanwhile, Marjaavaan director Milap Zaveri also shared a series of throwback pictures from the film’s shoot featuring Varinder, Sidharth, Milap Zaveri and Riteish Deshmukh. In his caption, he expressed his shock over Ghuman’s death saying, “RIP veervarindersinghghuman bhai. How unpredictable life is. Will always cherish the memories we shared on Marjaavaan,” he wrote, along with a heartbreak emoji.

Varinder Singh Ghuman`s death

For the uninitiated, Ghuman passed away after suffering a heart attack in Amritsar. According to his manager, Yadvinder Singh, the actor had complained of shoulder pain and was admitted to a private hospital, where he later suffered a cardiac arrest. His nephew, Amanjyot Singh Ghuman, had confirmed the news to reporters in Jalandhar. Ghuman was well-known as India`s vegetarian bodybuilder.

He won the Mr India title in 2009 and secured second place in the Mr Asia pageant. Over the years, he made his mark in both Hindi and Punjabi films. He shared screen space with Salman Khan in Tiger 3 in 2023 and also appeared in Roar, Tigers of Sundarbans in 2014 and the Punjabi hit Kabaddi once again in 2012. Condolences poured in from across the political and film fraternity.

Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu called him the pride of Punjab and said his death was an irreparable loss for the country. In July and August of 2025, Punjab was hit by massive floods. During that time, Salman Khan had spoken about the issue and the problems the residents were facing and appealed to people to help the affected state as much as possible.
