Rajat Bedi was `kept out` during Hrithik Roshan`s Koi Mil Gaya promotions

Rajat Bedi, who has been making waves for his performance in Aryan Khan`s directorial debut The Ba**ds of Bollywood, recently spoke up about his path, challenges, and return to the industry. The actor discussed being “used and abused” in business and movies, his popular bad character in Hrithik Roshan`s Koi Mil Gaya, and how he was omitted from the film`s promotions. Rajat plays Jaraj Saxena in Aryan`s show, who makes his way back into the film industry after being humiliated and ignored for 15 years.

Rajat talks about being used and abused by the industry

Speaking at the Khajuraho International Film Festival (KIFF), Rajat stated,  “I have been used and abused and left behind specially in my work. I have faced the consequences of trusting people. It happened in Canada. I was a real estate developer and an actor. I had partners who did the numbers on me. I faced bad consequences but it was great also for me because it made me move back to India.” The interview took place before the show came out.

He also said that he comes from a film family and is a third-generation actor, with his kid set to make his debut shortly. “I am the third generation in my family, and the good news is that the fourth generation is preparing. “My son is preparing to become an actor.” When asked about his son`s debut, Rajat said, “Very soon.” He`s 22 years old. “He is far more attractive than I am.”

Rajat Bedi is the son of filmmaker Narendra Bedi, who has directed films such as Jawani Diwani, Bandhan, Maha Chor, and Benaam. Rajat is the grandson of Rajinder Singh Bedi, a writer well known for Hrishikesh Mukherjee`s films Abhimaan, Anupama, and Satyakam.

Rajat expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by digital platforms when discussing his return to show business with Aryan Khan`s OTT debut. “It`s a great blessing for actors because there is so much work happening on the OTT platform, and there is an opportunity for technicians and actors to display their work.” He also mentioned upcoming projects. “You will finally see me in Bollywood after 16 years. This is like the daddy of all Bollywood. This is a banger. Both of them are enormously large. I was lucky in that I was specifically chosen for these projects due to my previous film experience.”

Rajat opens up about Koi Mil Gaya and his sister

Rajat Bedi also said that his elder sister is an established writer who is currently collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Love and War. “My elder sister is a prolific writer. She penned Agneepath (2012) for Karan Johar and is currently writing for Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.”

Rajat further recalled his bond with Shah Rukh Khan from the sets of Zamana Deewana, “My bond with Shah Rukh started on the sets of Zamana Deewana. After the film, I got into modelling, and I was the first title holder of the first Gladrags modelling competition. I went to Australia for the world final. This was the same year when Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai went for Miss World. I got third place over there, and when I came back, I had the celebration with Aishwarya and Sushmita.”

Finally, Rajat Bedi discussed his legendary part in Koi Mil Gaya, admitting that despite being neglected during promotions, the public adored him. “Koi Mil Gaya became a blockbuster film and was promoted by Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, and Rakesh Roshan.” I was kept out of the publicity, but people still recognise and love me for that part. I can`t take it away. It was a pleasure to work with Rakesh ji. “He`s one of the best directors I`ve worked with.”
