Lakshya, Kartik Aaryan, and Janhvi Kapoor’s Dostana 2 was put on the back burner in 2020. Earlier this year, the makers confirmed that they were rewriting the script and making major casting changes. While Lakshya continues to be part of the film, Vikrant Massey has joined the cast as the new lead. Now, an update about the female lead has surfaced, and it’s this Laapataa Ladies actress who will join the cast.
Pratibha Ranta joins Dostana 2 cast
There was earlier buzz that Sreeleela was being considered for the leading lady’s role. However, according to the latest reports, Laapataa Ladies star Pratibha Ranta has been roped in for the character that Janhvi Kapoor was originally set to play.
For those unversed, Dostana 2 was previously shelved due to creative differences between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar. While the two have now buried the hatchet, Kartik has not returned to the franchise. He has been replaced by Vikrant Massey. Confirming the news, Vikrant told Times Now, “You will see me doing that soon. I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie.”
The actor added that the project will showcase him in a completely new avatar. He shared, “In this film, you’ll see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan (Johar) sir will make sure I wear stylish outfits and fancy sunglasses. We’ll be shooting somewhere in Europe.” When asked about his “Desi Girl” in the film, Massey kept the details under wraps and said, “I think that I won’t reveal right now.”
