Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mumbai on October 29 to address a maritime leaders conclave as India seeks to position itself as a maritime power, an official statement said on Monday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mumbai on October 29 to address the Maritime Leaders Conclave and chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum, a highlight event of India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, being held at the NESCO Exhibition Centre. The Prime Minister is scheduled to speak at around 4:00 PM.
PM Modi will also chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum, the flagship event of India Maritime Week (IMW), that brings together leaders of global maritime companies, major investors, policymakers, innovators and international partners to deliberate on the future of the global maritime ecosystem.
India Maritime Week 2025, themed “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision,” is being organised from October 27 to 31, 2025. The week-long event is positioned as India’s premier global platform to showcase the country’s evolving maritime vision and strategic ambitions. This year’s edition will see participation from over 85 countries, with more than 1,00,000 delegates, 500 exhibitors, and 350 international speakers.
The Global Maritime CEO Forum, which the Prime Minister will chair, brings together some of the world’s leading figures from the maritime sector — including CEOs of top global shipping and port companies, major investors, policymakers, innovators, and international development partners. The forum aims to foster high-level dialogue on the future of the global maritime ecosystem, focusing on sustainable growth, resilient supply chains, green shipping, and inclusive blue economy strategies.
PM Modi’s participation underscores the government’s commitment to advancing the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, a long-term strategy aimed at transforming India into a leading global maritime power. The vision is anchored on four key pillars — port-led development, shipping and shipbuilding, seamless logistics, and maritime skill-building — and aligns with India’s broader goals of enhancing trade competitiveness, driving innovation, and promoting sustainability across the maritime domain, the statement issued by the Prime Minister`s Office (PMO) said.
India Maritime Week 2025 will also host several parallel sessions, exhibitions, and business-to-business meetings designed to attract investment, encourage innovation, and strengthen global partnerships in sectors such as port infrastructure, shipbuilding, cruise tourism, and blue economy finance.
By hosting global maritime leaders and decision-makers in Mumbai, IMW 2025 aims to highlight India’s growing role in shaping the future of global shipping and logistics. The event reflects India’s strategic ambition to become a maritime hub for the 21st century, contributing to the nation’s economic growth and reinforcing its leadership in the emerging blue economy, the statement issued by the Prime Minister`s Office (PMO) said.
