Mumbai’s MPSC rankers shine bright

With the Maharashtra Public Service Commission State (MPSC) Services Main Examination 2024 results declared late on October 30, the Mumbai region once again saw top scorers who surmounted several challenges.

Ravindra Bhabad, hailing from Nashik, bagged the third rank on the statewide examination. Having studied in a Zilla Parishad school, with both his parents as labourers, Bhabad felt guilty about a single day going by. Bhabad, currently residing in Kalyan, lost his father when he was in Std XII and enrolled in a college by himself.

“I hadn’t learnt how to dream big by then, so MPSC wasn’t on my radar. By the time I went to college, things began to change,” he said.

Bhabad, who is already posted as a block division officer, has attempted the MPSC for the second time this year to secure a better rank and progress in his career.

Another success story is that of one Nilesh Tambe. A resident of Chembur and son of a former BMC-school teacher, he cleared the exams in his third attempt.

According to Nilesh, his mother, Nanda Tambe, would narrate the various hardships of her underprivileged students to him, which inspired the now 33-year-old to bag the 24th rank.

Talking to mid-day, Tambe said, “I worked for two years in the private sector as a web developer, but something always felt amiss. I realised I was not contributing to anyone`s greater good, which is why I decided to pursue a career in the public sector. It took three attempts since 2021, but now finally, I have achieved what I set out to do.”
