Lack of clear communication from the Mumbai Metro team on Friday led to chaos on Yellow Line-2B and Red Line-7 during the evening rush hours as passengers took to social media to complain that trains had been affected for nearly an hour.
While the Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) team claimed a slight delay, passengers slammed them stating that for over an hour, the trains on the two routes had been affected.
“Due to a technical glitch, services on Lines 2A and 7 are running slightly delayed. We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. Our teams are working to get the services back on schedule as quickly as possible,” stated the MMMOCL team.
“From one hour, they are informing passengers that service will start again in 20 minutes, and now again they announce at Gundavli Station that it will take another next 20 minutes for the services to be restored. This is peak inconvenience at peak hour,” said Krutik Raut, a commuter.
Another commuter, Chirag Modi, said the security guard informed that the metro services will be shut for two hours.
“Inside the metro at Mith Chowky since last 20mins towards Dahisar. No proper update. Only announcement of technical issues being made,” said commuter Prathamesh Prabhu, in a social media post.
“Don’t lie. Be transparent. For more than 30 min your service towards Gundavli is stopped. What is the reason ?,” questioned another commuter, Srinidhi Nadgauda.
“How are you people so slow only when it comes to providing services? Been stuck on the Poisar Station for more than 40 minutes now,” a commuter named Rohit wrote on social media, adding, “What kind of proactiveness of a public body is this at peak office hours?”
At 7.14pm, MMMOCL said that the services were restored within an hour.
“The issue has been resolved, the trains have started moving on Lines 2A and 7. We would like to inform our passengers that services will be restored to schedule fully within an hour,” a statement by MMMOCL on social media read.
