In an unfortunate incident, a level-1 fire broke out on Saturday evening at a residential building located at 83, Goolrukh, Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Marg, Worli Sea Face. As informed by the officials, the incident was reported at around 8:01 pm and was promptly attended to by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).
According to officials, the fire was confined to the electric wiring, installations, clothes, plywood, furniture, and household articles inside a flat on the sixth floor of the 11-storey building. Furthermore, the thick smoke caused by the fire spread throughout the structure, prompting an immediate response from the fire department.
The MFB, acting promptly on the unfortunate incident, declared it a Level-I fire at 8:23 pm. Amid the concerning situation and considering that it is a residential society, several officials from the Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the spot. Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO), one Senior Station Officer (Sr SO), one Station Officer (SO), three fire engines, one fire tender, three jumbo tankers, one aerial ladder platform, one breathing apparatus van, and a 108 ambulance were also deployed at the site, and therefore the situation was taken under control.
After over two hours, the fire was successfully extinguished by 10:35 pm. Officials present at the spot also asserted that no injuries were reported in the incident and everything was taken under control.
Level-2 fire in Kurla
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) battled another separate fire incident in Kurla. While the first fire broke out on Saturday evening at 8:30, another incident was reported during the early hours of Monday.
As informed by the Mumbai Fire Department, a Level-II fire broke out at CST Road, Kapadia Nagar, near the Gurdwara in Kurla (West). The intensified fire caused panic in the locality before the fire department took over the situation. As per the information received by the officials, the incident was reported at around 2:42 a.m. on Monday.
The fire, which was initially declared Level-1 at 2:43 am by the authorities, escalated to Level-II by 2:57 am. As per the MFB, the fire spread across a cluster of 15 to 20 galas (workshops) covering an area of approximately 3,000 sq. ft.
Moreover, it was confined to automobile spare parts, tyres, electric wiring, installations, scrap materials, and other items stored in partly ground and ground-plus-one structures.
To counter this unfortunate and tragic incident, a firefighting operation was launched with the deployment of four fire engines, three fire tenders, two motor water tankers, ten jumbo tankers, three advanced water tankers, and two quick response vehicles, along with a 108 ambulance on standby.
After an intense operation by BMC’s Mumbai Fire Department, the situation was entirely taken under control. By 5:15 am on Monday, the fire was brought under control, and no injuries were reported. However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
