Mumbai: Three arrested for robbery in Palghar house; Rs 10 lakh valuables seized

Police on Sunday arrested three persons from Karnataka in relation to the robbery at a house in Maharashtra`s Palghar district. The police officials also recovered jewellery and other items valued at Rs 10 lakh from them.

As reported by news agency PTI, the incident took place on November 18 at the house located at Sativali in the Vasai area.

As per the 37-year-old complainant woman, she was at home with her son when three unidentified men forced their way into the house, reported PTI. 

The intruders further held knives to the throats of the complainant and her son, robbing gold ornaments and a mobile phone from the house before fleeing.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Madan Ballal, while asserting about the incident, said, “The woman sustained a hand injury during the incident,” as cited by news agency PTI. 

During the probe into the incident, the police learnt that the accused had fled to Nandgaon in the Bidar district of Karnataka. A police team was then sent there.

The three accused, Ashok alias Babu Raju Shinde, Abdul Rauf Hashmi and Ritik Ravi Belangi, were apprehended on November 20, the official further said.

The police recovered gold jewellery, mobile phones, and cash collectively valued at Rs 10 lakh from them.

The officials also added that, “During interrogation, the arrested persons told the police that three more individuals were involved in planning and executing the robbery, and efforts were on to trace them,” as per PTI.

In a different scenario, a 48-year-old US citizen undergoing medical treatment in Mumbai was allegedly robbed of diamond-studded jewellery and an expensive wristwatch worth a combined Rs 26 lakh from his room at a South Mumbai five-star hotel. Colaba Police have arrested the victim’s driver and another man in connection with the case.

Police said the American national, a resident of West Virginia, has been in the city since June for treatment related to Parkinson’s disease. Soon after his arrival, a local acquaintance introduced him to a driver, identified as one of the arrested accused, to assist with daily hospital visits.
