A shocking case of domestic violence has come out at Julius Wadi in Malvani, where police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his live-in partner and attempting to strangle his three-and-a-half-year-old son. The man was trying to kill the three-year-old with an electrical wire strangled around him. The swift intervention of the Malvani police saved the life of the mother and the child, preventing an unfortunate incident.
The accused, who was arrested by Malvani police, has been identified as Siddharth Rajkumar Patel (39). According to the police, the 23-year-old complainant, a housewife residing at Hashmi Chawl, Juliuswadi, had been living with the accused in a live-in along with her three-and-a-half-year-old son.
On the day of the incident, Patel allegedly confronted her over a visit from her estranged husband two days earlier. The accused then verbally abused the complainant. Patel further assaulted her and, in a fit of rage, force-fed her Crocin tablets.
He then allegedly threatened to kill her son and tried to strangle the boy with the wire of an extension board. When the complainant screamed for help, the accused assaulted her severely, causing injuries.
Following the woman’s distress call to the police helpline (100), police inspector Jivan Bhatkule, along with his team, rushed to the spot. After reaching the spot, the police officials rescued the victim and her child; they further took the accused into custody.
As per the officials, both the mother and her child were shifted to Shatabdi Hospital, Kandivali West, where doctors admitted the duo for further treatment.
“The accused has been arrested, and a case of attempted murder has been registered against him,” said police inspector Jivan Bhatkule from Malvani police station.
