A 20-year-old college student was seriously injured after he was allegedly assaulted by his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend, who called him to settle a dispute they had a few hours earlier on October 8. According to the FIR registered with the Santacruz police, the victim had gone to a pub in Juhu where an argument erupted after champagne was sprayed on him and his friend by his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.
The situation turned violent before the bouncers intervened and separated both groups. A few hours later, the victim was allegedly called again to DN Nagar in Andheri by the ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend for a “compromise meeting”. However, he was reportedly assaulted with blunt objects and also given electric shocks with a device.
Bleeding heavily, the victim was first taken to Cooper Hospital by his friends, where doctors advised immediate admission. He was later shifted to Kokilaben Hospital, where he continues to undergo treatment for multiple injuries. Meanwhile, a cross-complaint was also filed by the ex-girlfriend against the victim for molestation, alleging that he tried to approach her and speak to her and that her boyfriend intervened. She claimed the victim abused her publicly, used obscene language, and molested her.
The victim’s father, who lives in Delhi, told mid-day, “We need justice for my child. My child was attacked twice, and he was almost killed. The attack was only meant to kill him. Luckily, he survived. He is still in the hospital. Those who are responsible should be arrested. The fight also started because of them. My son was in the ICU and has now been shifted to the general ward.”
Police confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for assault and causing injuries. However, no arrests have been made so far. A police officer said, “A cross-complaint has also been registered against the injured youth. We are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the pub and nearby locations in Andheri to establish the sequence of events and identify all those involved. Appropriate action will be taken accordingly.”
