Mumbai Police announce traffic curbs for Chhath Puja 2025; details here

Mumbai Police have announced temporary traffic regulations ahead of the Chhath Puja 2025 celebrations on October 27 and 28.

The festival, widely observed by devotees from eastern states, is expected to draw large crowds to Juhu Beach. The Santacruz Traffic Division, under the provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act and the Motor Vehicles Act, will enforce the traffic measures from 2 pm on October 27 to 11 am on October 28, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Western Suburbs), Ajit Borhade.

Key restrictions for Chhath Puja

No-entry zones: The stretch from Santacruz Police Station Junction to Juhu Beach via Tulip Star Hotel Junction will be closed to all vehicles except those involved in the puja activities. Vehicles from Link Road heading to Juhu Tara Road must take a right at Santacruz Police Station Junction, then left at Standard Chartered Bank Junction, and proceed via Swami Vivekananda Road, the police said.

One-way traffic: To facilitate smooth vehicular flow, the AB Nair Road from Church Road to Balraj Sahani Marg will remain one-way.

Alternative routes: Motorists may use NS Road No 13 via Juhu Church Road or Alfredo Cirodo Road. Vehicles coming from Tulip Star Hotel Junction towards Juhu Tara Road shall be diverted via VM Road to reach their destination.

U-turn restriction: U-turns in front of Hotel Maharaja Bhog on Juhu Tara Road from the south side will remain closed for vehicles processing from the south side of Juhu Tara Road towards Juhu Koliwada via Hotel Tulip Star. Instead, motorists may use the U-turn available at Juhu Koliwada Junction.

No-parking zones: Parking is prohibited on both sides of Juhu Tara Road, AB Nair Road, Birla Lane, VM Road, and Juhu Church Road.

The traffic police have appealed to devotees and motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with on-ground police personnel.

Western Railway to run special services between Valsad and Hisar for Diwali and Chhath Puja 2025 festivities

Western Railway on Wednesday announced that it will run festive special trains between Valsad and Hisar for Diwali 2025 and Chhath Puja.

An official statement said that to ease travel during the Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals, Western Railway has announced special weekly trains service between Valsad and Hisar.

According to a press release from the Public Relations Department of Western Railway, Trains 04728/04727 will operate as a Weekly Special on special fare for a total of eight trips.

Train schedule

Train No 04728 Valsad-Hisar Special will depart every Thursday at 2.50 pm from Valsad and reach Hisar at 2.05 pm the next day.
Runs from October 16 to November 6.

Train No 04727 Hisar-Valsad Special will depart every Wednesday at 12.05 pm from Hisar and reach Valsad at 11.30 am the next day.
Runs from October 15 to November 5.

The trains will halt at Navsari, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Godhra, Dahod, Ratlam, Mandsor, Nimach, Chittaurgarh, Bhilwara, Bijai Nagar, Nasirabad, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Phulera, Ringas, Nim Ka Thana, Narnaul, Rewari, Charkhi Dadri, Bhiwani and Hansi stations.

“Tickets for Train No 04728 can be booked at all PRS counters and through the IRCTC website. For full details regarding the train’s timetable and composition, passengers are advised to visit: www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in,” an official statement said.
