Mumbai: New monorail rake damaged during trial run near Wadala Depot

A newly inducted Mumbai Monorail rake suffered damage during a trial run near the Wadala Depot station, officials said. At the time of the incident, only the train captain and a Medha engineer were onboard for testing purposes.

According to preliminary information, the accident occurred due to signalling equipment not being operational. As a result, the operation control room was unable to detect the train’s exact location and reportedly moved the guideway beam switch while the rake was positioned on the switch point, leading to the mishap.

Further details on the extent of the damage and corrective measures are awaited.
