Mumbai fire: Late night Worli fire contained, no casualties reported

In another unfortunate incident in Mumbai, a fire broke out during the late hours of Sunday at a residential structure in Worli. The fire was, however, brought under control by the authorities, which prevented casualties. 

As informed by BMC’s fire brigade department, the incident occurred at Mahakali Nagar, Narayan Hardikar Road, opposite Worli Depot, near Sacred Heart School, and was reported at 8:45 pm.

According to the BMC, the fire was confined to electrical wiring, installations, household articles, wooden furniture, and electronic items, including a TV and a devhara. The fire affected an area of approximately 1,000 square feet across the ground floor, including room numbers 2 and 3. Moreover, the fire was intense enough to damage the first floor and also burnt rooms 3, 4, and 5 of the G+1 structure.

While the firefighting operations were swiftly carried out by a team to ensure that the situation stayed under control. The team comprised 1 Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO), 2 Senior Station Officers (Sr SO), 1 Station Officer (SO), 5 Fire Engineers (FE), 4 Junior Trainees (JT), 1 AWTT, and WQRV personnel, along with support from 108 ambulance services.

As per the information received by the BMC, the fire was successfully extinguished by 10:46 pm, just over an hour after it was reported.

However, no injuries have been reported, and residents were safely evacuated from the premises during the incident. Authorities confirmed that the fire did not spread to neighbouring structures, preventing potential damage in the densely populated area.

Fire in Cuffe Parade kills 15-year-old

In another very unfortunate incident at a one-plus-one chawl in Cuffe Parade, a devastating fire broke out during the early hours of Monday. The fire incident reported by BMC also informed about a 13-year-old kid succumbing to fire injuries. 

According to authorities, the fire was confined to electric wiring, installations, and three electric vehicle batteries, along with some household articles, within an area measuring approximately 10 x 10 feet on the first floor of the structure.

Tragically, 15-year-old Yash Vitthal Khot succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire. Whereas, three others, namely Devendra Choudhary (30), Viraj Khot (13), and Sangram Kurne (25), were rushed to St George Hospital following the burn.
