Western Railway’s Mumbai Central Division has marked a new benchmark in ticket-checking performance during the current financial year. The Mumbai division of the Central Railways has not only surpassed previous records but also registered the highest-ever earnings in ticket checking between April 2025 and August 2025.
In recognition of their dedication and outstanding service, the Divisional Railway Manager of the Mumbai Central Division, Pankaj Singh, felicitated 36 ticket-checking staff members for their exceptional performance.
As per the Western Railway, the Mumbai division solely has earned over Rs 40 crore from ticket checking till August 2025, as against Rs 31 crore during the same period last year. This recovery reflects an impressive growth of almost 30 per cent.
During the period from April 2025 to August 2025, almost 4.50 lakh ticketless travellers were apprehended and fined, which helped the Western Railway incline their revenue. This outstanding achievement by the Western Railways Mumbai Division team is the result of the sustained efforts of the ticket checking staff.
The highest individual revenue earners among the ticket checking staff were Shri C.K. Sinha, Dy. Chief Ticket Inspector, Udhna, who collectively helped railways earn almost Rs 45 lakh. Western Railways further asserted that Deepak S. Sapkale, Dy. Chief Ticket Inspector, Surat, was also one of the top performers who garnered more than Rs. 35 lakh. The Divisional Railway Manager further asserted that their exemplary performance has set a benchmark for others in the division.
Furthermore, yet another unique highlight of Mumbai Central Division’s performance has been the contribution by the Special Ladies Ticket Checking Squad. The squad consists of two teams of 10 members each.
Working quite brilliantly, the team between April 2025 and August 2025 apprehended more than 38,400 ticketless travelling cases and generated a revenue of around Rs 109,000.
Amongst the women staff, Sheetal Sakru, Dy. Chief Ticket Inspector, Mumbai Central, emerged as the top performer with a collection of almost Rs 7 lakh as a penalty. This showcases the efficiency, commitment and dedication of the women’s squad.
The remarkable efforts of the ticket-checking staff promote passenger discipline and strengthen Western Railway’s image as a responsible and efficient organisation, assuring better operations in the Western Railway`s Mumbai division.
