After mid-day shed light on the financial and emotional turmoil faced by Krishna and Sanjana Parab, a Worli-based couple battling to keep their daughter, Sejal, alive, Mumbaikars once again displayed their large-heartedness, depositing over Rs 1,01,413 into Krishna`s account within 24 hours.
For Krishna, this sudden inflow of support is nothing short of a lifeline. His daughter’s condition requires constant medication and frequent hospitalisations — costs that his limited means could barely cover. But thanks to the generosity of strangers who read his story and responded immediately, he now has the assurance of being able to buy her medicines for at least six months, provided no unexpected emergency arises.
Speaking to mid-day, Krishna expressed overwhelming gratitude. “I was completely taken aback by the kindness shown by people I have never met. For the first time in months, I can breathe a little easier. This amount ensures that I can buy medicines for the next six months, unless an emergency arises. If she has to be admitted again, this money will also help cover hospital expenses. I can’t thank people and mid-day enough for stepping in to help me when I was at my lowest,” he said.
Krishna’s relief is palpable. For months, the stress of wondering how he would afford the next week’s medicines or pay for another hospitalisation had been eating away at him. The sudden infusion of funds doesn’t solve all his problems, but it provides much-needed breathing space. “There have been days when I had to borrow money just to get her medicines. Every time she fell critically ill, I used to panic — not only because of her health but also because of the bills that followed,” said Krishna.
Lawyer offers to help
Meanwhile, a lawyer has also approached Krishna, promising to take up his case pro bono and help him get back money that digital fraudsters had duped him of in May 2025. “I don`t want to trust anyone blindly. So I am taking the help of friends and mid-day to first check his authenticity. If he can help and I get my money back and also catch the fraudsters, that would be a great help as well,” said Krishna.
