Man stabbed to death after minor altercation in Dombivali hotel; 4 booked

A 38-year-old man was stabbed to death in Dombivli area of Thane district in Maharashtra, after a minor altercation that began when he accidentally brushed against another person, police said, reported the PTI.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at a hotel in the MIDC Phase 1 area, under the jurisdiction of Manpada Police Station, a police official said on Monday.

According to the police, the victim who was identified as Akash Bhanu Singh, was dining with friends when the accidental contact led to a heated argument.

The accused, joined by several others, allegedly attacked and stabbed Singh, resulting in his death, the official said.

Two of Singh’s friends, who tried to intervene, were also injured and are currently receiving treatment in hospital, officials said, according to the PTI.

Police have registered a case against four individuals under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and other offences. However, no arrests have been made so far, and an investigation is underway, the official said.

Meanwhile, in an another incident, last week, a 44-year-old man was allegedly strangled to death by his wife and her paramour, who later dumped his body in a river in Maharashtra`s Thane district, police said on Saturday, reported the PTI.

The Badlapur police have launched a search for the accused, who have been on the run after committing the crime on Thursday, an official said.

“The accused, Manisha Parmar and Laxman Bhoir (36), were neighbours and were having an affair. The victim, Kisan Parmar, had confronted his wife about her illicit relationship,” senior inspector Kishore Shinde said, as per the PTI.

He said that the accused strangled Kisan Parmar with a rope, wrapped his body in bedding and dumped it in a river in Badlapur.

The duo fled the scene. The victim`s body was recovered by the police on Thursday night and sent for a postmortem, the official said.

A first information report (FIR) was registered under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused, and a search is underway for them, the officials said.
