Mammootty to Amitabh Bachchan: Celebs hail team India’s Asia Cup win

After India clinched victory in the Asia Cup final over arch-rivals Pakistan, Indian fans and celebrities celebrated the win and expressed their happiness. The match, held on Sunday in Dubai, was won by the prolific partnership of Tilak Verma and Shivan Dube. As soon as the victory was sealed, celebrities including Mammootty, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and several others congratulated Team India.

Amitabh Bachchan takes a dig

In a humorous moment ahead of the Asia Cup final, Shoaib Akhtar mistakenly referred to Abhishek Bachchan instead of cricketer Abhishek Sharma. After the victory, Amitabh Bachchan lauded country’s victor by taking a jab at him.. He wrote, “We won! Well played `Abhishek Bachchan.` Their tongue slipped and without batting, bowling, or fielding, you defeated the enemy. Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! Jai Maa Durga! (sic).”

Other celebs congratulate

While Vijay Deverakonda praised Tilak Verma and wrote, “Indiaaaaaaaaa. Our Boy killed it.”

Preity Zinta expressed excitement writing, “Wow !!! What a game. CONGRATULATIONS to Team India 🇮🇳 for winning the Asia Cup ! Thank you Tilak, Shivam & Kuldeep for this thrilling victory Ting! indvspak2025.”

Riteish Deshmukh kept it short and impactful, exulting, “Tilak on the forehead !!! Jai Hind.”

Mollywood megastar Mammootty was equally ecstatic, posting, “Team India didn`t just win the Asia Cup, they owned it. Champions without a single defeat. Absolutely magnificent!”

Actor Anil Kapoor expressed his support for the team with a brief and patriotic message, stating, “India Zindabad”. Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared his enthusiasm through a video message, writing, “Bharath mata ki jai! (Jai Hind)”.

Sidharth Malhotra set the tone with his message: “What a match tonight! India showed grit, fire & heart. Unbeaten champions! You make us all proud.

About the match

A well-compiled half-century by Tilak Varma and his useful partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube helped Team India secure their second T20I Asia Cup title and overall ninth title, including the ODI editions, beating Pakistan by five wickets in a nail-biting final at Dubai on Sunday.
