Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar has been facing legal trouble after the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma moved the Delhi High Court demanding a stay on the Ranveer Singh-starrer. As a relief for the makers, on Tuesday, the CBFC gave a green signal to the film, asserting that the film has no links to Major Sharma.

Major Mohit Sharma`s brother Madhur Sharma reacted to the CFBC clearance saying, “I am sure they’ve followed the process, and they were very quick to make a decision, which is good. We don’t know what data CBFC has relied on, but I am sure they have done their due diligence. They have said that it is a work of fiction, so I hope that a disclaimer will be duly added.”
Madhur also shared that they could have taken the parents’ concerns into consideration. He said, “I just feel that a screening could have been organised for the parents so that any misconceptions floating on social media could have been clarified. People who have lived their entire life with him are in a better position to tell if anything in the film replicates his life, rather than someone outside the ecosystem.”
When asked about the family`s next steps, he said, “I am yet to speak to the lawyers… whether we should file a rejoinder…let`s see.”
About the Dhurandhar controversy
After the Delhi High Court directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to consider the objections raised by the parents of Ashoka Chakra awardee Late Major Mohit Sharma, the Board undertook a fresh examination of the film Dhurandhar and found no link to Major Mohit Sharma.
This reconsideration was carried out pursuant to the Court`s order dated December 1, 2025. According to the CBFC`s latest communication, the Board has rejected the family`s objections and concluded that the film bears no resemblance to the life, service, or experiences of Major Sharma.
In its fresh review, CBFC officials examined the specific question framed by the High Court, whether the film, in any manner, directly or indirectly depicts, resembles or derives from Major Sharma`s life. The Board has stated that Dhurandhar is a work of fiction and has no factual or biographical connection to the officer.
