Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister (CM) and NCP president Ajit Pawar on Tuesday continued his series of district and block-level review meetings, urging party representatives to strengthen grassroots connections and develop local strategies ahead of the upcoming civic and local body elections, news agency PTI reported.
The meeting, held in Worli, brought together leaders from Dhule, Nandurbar, Raigad, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Nashik, and Ahilyanagar districts. A similar review session for the Marathwada region was conducted on Monday.
Elections to various local bodies across Maharashtra, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), are scheduled to be completed by January 2026.
The discussions during Tuesday`s NCP meeting centred on strengthening organisational coordination, addressing local challenges, and improving communication between the state and district units, PTI reported.
Pawar emphasised the importance of direct public engagement, stating, “Every district committee must start working on the ground, meet people, build relationships, and prepare local plans. Today’s voters are smart—they vote for candidates, not caste or alliances.”
Refuting the Opposition’s allegations of “vote theft,” Pawar said they were “baseless claims” made by parties lacking a clear agenda, PTI reported.
NCP leader Sunil Tatkare asserted that the party is well-positioned to occupy the political space left by a weakened Congress.
“Our participation in the government is yielding visible results across sectors. Every section of society is benefiting, and we must communicate this effectively to voters,” he stated.
According to a party statement, the ongoing district-level review meetings are aimed at promoting accountability, unity, and efficient decision-making within the organisation. The NCP also seeks to strengthen its grassroots network, nurture young leadership, and continue its focus on inclusive, progressive development.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar directs financial aid, housing benefits for single women across Maharashtra
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Ajit Pawar on Monday directed the launch of a state-wide special campaign to ensure single women receive the benefits of various government welfare schemes and become financially self-reliant.
Chairing a high-level meeting at Sahyadri State Guest House, Pawar said the initiative will be modelled on Pune Zilla Parishad’s campaign for the empowerment of single women, according to a release. He stressed the need to help single women gain social respect, property rights, healthcare access, and economic independence.
In a release, Pawar also proposed extending financial assistance to single women for remarriage, similar to schemes in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, he instructed officials to include eligible single women beneficiaries under the state’s housing scheme.
The meeting was attended by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Minister of State Meghna Bordikar-Sakore, and senior bureaucrats from various departments, including Revenue, Rural Development, Planning, Finance, and Public Health.
