The deadline for submitting school enrolment data on the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) portal has been extended from September 30 to October 31.
The announcement, made on the UDISE+ site, comes after teacher groups across the state asked the education minister to extend the deadline for submitting school enrolment data owing to the flash floods in different parts of Maharashtra, which made it difficult for students to attend school for the past week, while attendance documents have been washed away in many institutions.
Data updating is a state-mandated requirement, where teachers are supposed to update this data on the portal to keep the state government apprised of student attendance and enrollment in schools. The data majorly decides the number of teacher recruitments made in the school.
Over the last week, owing to the heavy rain, many teachers in Marathwada were not able to reach their schools, nor were they able to upload the UDISE information in time. Many schools across the state have also been turned into rehabilitation and health centres for those affected in
their neighbourhoods.
“The attendance records have been washed away in some schools while many did not have access to the internet, which is needed to connect with the UDISE portal. While the data entry deadline has been pushed, we hope that the records entered after September 30 will be considered for Sanch Manyata or staff pattern,” said Jalindar Devaram Sarode, working president of the Shikshak Sena, Maharashtra.
Since the past seven days, districts such as Solapur, Beed, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, among many others, have been badly hit by excessive rainfall. In light of this, JM Abhyankar, member of the Legislative Council, has also written to the state education minister, stating, “Since teachers were not able to reach schools, many institutions were not able to upload the UDISE information despite knowing the seriousness of the information to be uploaded. Considering this situation that arose during the natural disaster, we request you to extend the deadline for uploading the statistical information of 2025-26 in the UDISE system to October 31.”
The letter also asked the state to take a second look at Std XI admissions, providing flood-hit students another shot at vacant college seats.
