Maharashtra announces phase 3 of `Mukhyamantri Majhi Shala Sundar Shala`

The Maharashtra government has approved the third phase of the ‘Mukhyamantri Mazi Shala Sundar Shala’ (Chief Minister`s My School, Beautiful School) campaign from November 3.

The new phase will run from November 3 to December 31, 2025 and it aims to improve schools across the state, covering all types of schools and mediums of instruction, an official statement said.

The campaign will reward the best-performing schools with prizes worth Rs 72.22 crore and will focus on education quality, health, hygiene, environment, and sports. It will also encourage overall student development and strengthen school management aligned with government policies, it said.

The campaign will be implemented across all types of schools in the state and is divided into two broad categories — government and local self-government schools and all other management schools.

It will cover schools in three regions including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area, Class A and Class B municipal regions and the rest of Maharashtra, including rural and semi-urban areas.

Each participating school will be evaluated on a 200-mark system with infrastructure – 38 marks, implementation of Government Schemes – 101 marks and academic achievements – 61 marks, an official statement.

Winners will receive cash prizes at various levels:

Taluka Level Awards:

1st Prize: Rs 3 lakh

2nd Prize: Rs 2 lakh

3rd Prize: Rs 1 lakh

District Level Awards:

1st Prize: Rs 11 lakh

2nd Prize: Rs 5 lakh

3rd Prize: Rs 3 lakh

Municipal Level (Class A & B) Awards:

1st Prize: Rs 21 lakh

2nd Prize: Rs 15 lakh

3rd Prize: Rs 11 lakh

State-Level Awards:

1st Prize: Rs 51 lakh

2nd Prize: Rs 31 lakh

3rd Prize: Rs 21 lakh

Committees at taluka, district, division, and state levels will evaluate schools based on performance. The State School Education Commissioner will lead the top-level committee, the official statement said.

Schools that received the same or lower ranking in the previous two phases will not be considered for awards this year unless they achieve a higher rank than before.

Award-winning School Management Committees will also be honoured with special plaques. Schools may use the prize money based on their most urgent needs, it said.
