Katrina Kaif recalls growing up without a father: `It creates a certain vacuum`

Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal delighted fans on Tuesday by revealing that they are expecting their first child together. The announcement, which was announced on Instagram, has been received with love and well-wishes from all corners of the profession. But for Katrina, this new chapter in her life is more than just a milestone; it represents a deeply personal ambition she has always held dear.

Katrina and Vicky`s heartfelt announcement

Katrina and Vicky shared a Polaroid black and white photo of the couple gazing tenderly at Katrina`s baby bump. “On our way to start the best chapter of our lives with hearts full of joy and gratitude,” they posted on Instagram.

Akshay Kumar also had a special request for the expecting duo, “So totally happy for you, Katrina and Vicky. Knowing you, I can say that you two will make the best parents. Bas baby ko English aur Punjabi equally sikhaana. Lots of love and blessings. Jai Mahadev,” Akshay wrote.

But, long before wedding bells or baby bump rumours, Katrina Kaif expressed her wish to start her own family. In a candid 2019 interview with Filmfare, the Ek Tha Tiger star discussed how the lack of a father figure in her youth influenced her desire for a complete family.

“Yeah. Not having a father figure does create a certain vacuum and makes any girl feel vulnerable. When I have kids, I want them to have the experience of being with both parents… It must be nice for those who have strong fatherly support. A male figure who loves you unconditionally,” Katrina said.

Her notion of family and stability dates much further back. Katrina expressed her ideals in a 2010 interview with Cosmopolitan India.

Katrina and Vicky`s wedding

Katrina and Vicky married in December 2021 in an intimate yet magnificent ceremony at Rajasthan`s Six Senses Fort Barwara. The wedding, which was kept under wraps till the end, has become one of the most talked-about Bollywood couplings in recent years.

Katrina Kaif most recently appeared in Sriram Raghavan`s neo-noir film Merry Christmas, co-starring Vijay Sethupathi. The film was widely praised for its storyline and Katrina`s stunning performance.
