Taking to the Stories section of her Instagram, Kareena mentioned that The First Wives Club is one of her favourite movies of Keaton. Based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Olivia Goldsmith, Keaton was seen playing Annie MacDuggan – an anxious and slightly neurotic housewife, saddled with self-esteem problems. Directed by Hugh Wilson, the drama further saw Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn as the lead.

Kareena`s other favourite is Marvin`s Room, where Keaton gave a memorable performance as Bessie, the sister of Meryl Streep`s character Lee. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the lead, Marvin`s Room talks about two estranged sisters, living vastly different lives, who find themselves unexpectedly reunited when one receives a serious diagnosis.

And how can anyone forget Annie Hall, where she was seen in the titular role, alongside Woody Allen. The drama, which narrates the tale of a singer trying to figure out the reasons for the failure of his relationship with the eponymous female lead, is considered one of the greatest films ever made to date.

Kareena`s list further included the 2003 romantic comedy Something`s gotta give, where Keaton was seen as Erica Barry, a 56-year-old successful, divorced Broadway playwright, partly living in an upscale Hamptons beach house. Having survived her divorce without huge bitterness, she lives a quiet life of professional fulfillment and romantic disappointment.

About Diane Keaton

Diane Keaton, the Oscar-winning star of Annie Hall, The Godfather films and Father of the Bride, has died. She was 79. Reportedly, she passed away surrounded by her loved ones. The family of the star is yet to share details on the cause of demise.

Keaton was born Diane Hall in January 1946 in Los Angeles. Though her family was not part of the film industry, she would find herself in. Her mother was a homemaker and photographer, and her father was in real estate and civil engineering. Keaton was drawn to theatre and singing while in school in Santa Ana, California, and she dropped out of college after a year to make a go of it in Manhattan. Actors` Equity already had a Diane Hall in their ranks, and she took Keaton, her mother`s maiden name, as her own. She studied under Sanford Meisner in New York and has credited him with giving her the freedom to `chart the complex terrain of human behaviour within the safety of his guidance. It made playing with fire fun.`

Keaton made her film debut in the 1970 romantic comedy Lovers and Other Strangers, but her big breakthrough would come a few years later when she was cast in Francis Ford Coppola`s The Godfather, which won best picture and became one of the most beloved films of all time. And yet even she hesitated to return for the sequel, though after reading the script she decided otherwise.
