Ismail Darbar claims Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra ignored him

During an appearance on Vickey Lalwani’s podcast, Ismail Darbar openly called out Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra, sharing that they did not consider him worth responding to. He recalled, “I called and messaged Karan Johar. I also phoned Aditya Chopra. But after a while, I realised there was no point. I can say their response wasn’t even worthy of a reply… they didn’t even consider me worth responding to. Whoever needs someone like me will surely come; those who don’t, won’t,”.

Darbar also stated how his broken relationship with Bhansali affected his career, causing missed opportunities and even impacting his finances. However, he maintained that he never had to borrow money and his lifestyle continued to improve over time.

Ismail suggested that he believes Bhansali’s decision to cast Shah Rukh Khan in Devdas instead of Salman Khan led to a fallout with the actor. “When I needed work, he gave me Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and when he needed me, I gave up all the work I had for him. He was my godfather in the industry, after all… My heart tells me that his equation with Salman soured because he hired Shah Rukh for Devdas. Salman supported him even when Khamoshi flopped. Isn’t it obvious? If I help you out twice, and the third time, you go and hire my competitor, I would be upset,” he said.

Talking about Salman Khan`s rumoured past relationship with Aishwarya Rai on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Darbar acknowledged the public perception, saying, “The news of their fights was all over the media. We used to feel bad; they were so close, they shouldn’t have been fighting. But these are all things of the past; even Salman is smart enough to never speak about it,” he said.
