Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan made his Bollywood debut with Nadaaniyan. The film released on Netflix faced immense backlash for Ibrahim’s acting, speech and his looks. Now, in a recent interview with Esquire India, Ibrahim has openly admitted that it was a ‘really bad film’, and went on to share how the brutal trolling affected him.
Ibrahim Ali Khan on Nadaaniyan’s failure
While speaking about his debut film Nadaaniyan’s failure, Ibrahim Ali Khan told Esquire India, “Not too long ago, they were all waiting for my launch, and after Nadaaniyan, the hype has dropped real bad. They’ve trolled me nonstop. ‘He won’t be able to do it only’. It’s a massive low… and I constantly feel bad about it.” He then acknowledged that it was indeed a bad film. “I’m just gonna go on record and say that it was a really bad film,” he said.
Ibrahim further went on to share how the trolling took a toll on him. “It was really bad. It became a sort of culture to, ‘Oh, let’s troll that film’. There were people who were trolling it just because they heard that some other person was trolling it. That’s uncalled for, but if I now give a blockbuster in the future, I want the same kind of response. They should go mad after me,” said Ibrahim.
Ibrahim further added that while he did not necessarily take his chance for granted, he stepped into the film industry with a ‘Ho jaayega’ attitude. He said that he was working very hard, and still is, but feels he may have rushed into his debut project. “Of course, I was working very hard—like I’m still working hard on my speech issue. But in a way, I feel I must have rushed into that movie. I was 21 when I began shooting for it—others around me are doing it at 26, 27, 28—and I now think I could have been more mindful of the scale of what was going to happen,” he said.

Up Next, he has Diler, a sports drama directed by Kunal Deshmukh which will release in theatres. Talking about film, he said, “I’ve really sat on the script this time around. Kunal Deshmukh sir is a really experienced director. He’s very good and can present me well.”
