Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has directed the Transport Commissioner to cancel the trade certificates of authorised vehicle dealers found supplying vehicles to unauthorised sellers, such as multi-brand outlets (MBOs), across Maharashtra. The directive was issued during a meeting with the Automobile Dealers Federation.
The meeting was attended by Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar, Joint Secretary (Transport) Rajendra Holkar, Federation President Sachin Mahajan, and other key officials and office-bearers from across the state.
A vast network of unauthorised vehicle sellers has reportedly emerged across Maharashtra. These outlets operate without contributing any revenue to the state, and often sell new vehicles, brought in from other states or departments, without holding valid trade certificates.
Minister Sarnaik emphasised that authorised dealers who support these illegal operations by supplying vehicles to them will face strict action, including revocation of their trade certificates.
During the meeting, various concerns and demands from the Federation were also discussed. Reassuring legitimate dealers, Sarnaik stated that the government stands firmly with businesses operating within the legal framework.
‘Hirkani Rooms’ planned for ST bus stations to support mothers
In a separate initiative, Minister Sarnaik urged the Automobile Dealers Federation to utilise their CSR funds to establish ‘Hirkani Rooms’ at key ST bus stations across the state. These rooms will be equipped with facilities for breastfeeding mothers, including clean washrooms and comfortable seating.
Welcoming the suggestion, the Federation committed to setting up Hirkani Rooms at 51 bus stations in the first phase of the project.

The meeting was attended by MSRTC Managing Director Dr Madhav Kusekar, Joint Secretary Rajendra Holkar, and representatives from various unions, including Sandeep Shinde, Sameer More, Shrirang Barge, Hanumant Tate, Prakash Nimbalkar, Mukesh Tigote, and Pradeep Dhurandhar.
Sarnaik said the government is likely to take a positive decision on pending issues such as dearness allowance, house rent allowance, and other arrears, as well as the Diwali festival advance. He noted that these dues, pending since 2018, amount to around Rs 4,400 crore.
