Global companies, including Silicon Valley tech giants such as Apple, Microsoft, and Google, arrived on Day 1 of the first phase of the placement season at IIT Bombay, according to student sources. The institute has yet to officially release data on the participating companies and applicants. The placement season kicked off on Monday, December 1, and will continue until mid-month.
In the meantime, students are looking ahead to Day 2 of the placements, when even more global and national firms are expected to participate, students said. Elon Musk’s Tesla is one of the most anticipated recruiters scheduled to arrive on Day 2, according to student sources.
As per the 2025–26 placement brochure shared by the institute, students from disciplines such as Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science make up a large share of the applicants.
