Farhan Akhtar`s `worst critic` praises 120 Bahadur, calls it a great film

While the teaser and the first song Dada Kishan Ki Jai have already set the tone, Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios’ upcoming war drama 120 Bahadur delves deeper into the many shades of courage, sacrifice, and emotion through its complete music album. The makers took the celebrations to another level with a spectacular album launch at Mumbai’s iconic Royal Opera House. Amidst the grand event, renowned writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar shared his thoughts on the film after watching it.

Javed Akhtar calls himself worst critic of Farhan

While reviewing 120 Bahadur, Javed Akhtar said, “Ritesh, Director Farhan — I have seen the film and I am their worst critic. Generally, they are not happy with me, but I must say that they have made a great film.”

120 Bahadur recounts the extraordinary courage of 120 Indian soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought heroically in the legendary Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 war. Farhan Akhtar stars as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC, leading his men through one of the most defining moments in Indian military history. At its heart, the film echoes one unwavering line — “Hum Peechhe Nahin Hatenge.”

Director reveals most emotional part of 120 Bahadur

The film`s director Razneesh Razy Ghai, recently opened up on the most emotional part of the movie that moved him to the core. Talking to IANS, he said, “If you know about the battle, out of 120, most of them died fighting this battle. So we’ve captured a lot of scenes where, one by one, we start losing them. And those scenes have come out so emotional that when I was watching them in the edit, once or twice, I had tears in my eyes. I think the emotional part of it has really hit the right chord.”

He further added, “Those were also the most difficult ones to shoot, and when you’re feeling it and the scenes start coming out really nice, it touches you deeply. So, I would say I am really proud of the emotional graph of this movie. It runs throughout the film, but I think we have got those moments right. The camaraderie between the boys has come out really, really nice.”

Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar (Excel Entertainment), and Amit Chandrra (Trigger Happy Studios), the film is an Excel Entertainment production and releases in cinemas on November 21, 2025.
