An employee of the Dahisar toll booth was killed after an overloaded trailer truck carrying goods overturned at the plaza on Saturday morning. The trailer driver fled the scene after the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Nagesh Ushirla, 38, a resident of Dahisar East. The trailer truck was travelling from Borivli towards Virar when the incident occurred at the toll plaza. Ushirla was on duty at booth number 1 at the Dahisar toll plaza when, at around 5.30 am, a trailer truck overturned, according to the police.
A police officer said, “While he was collecting the toll, an overloaded trailer carrying packaged goods approached the booth. The trailer, which was excessively loaded, suddenly overturned and fell on Ushirla.”
Ushirla’s colleague, Harish Bairagi, who was also present at the toll booth, narrowly escaped the incident. The officer added, “Bairagi helped pull Ushirla out, and he was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.”
