Cyclonic Storm Shakhti over the west-central and adjoining northwest Arabian Sea has moved nearly southward at a speed of 5 km/h over the past six hours.
As of 0300 UTC today, it was centred near latitude 19.6 degrees North and longitude 60.5 degrees East, approximately 210 km southeast of Masirah Island (Oman, station 41288).

Cyclone Shakhti weakens, moves west-southwest over Arabian Sea: IMD
Earlier on Sunday, the severe cyclonic storm Shakhti over the northwest and adjoining west-central Arabian Sea moved west-southwestwards at 15 kmph, centred at 1130 hrs IST near latitude 20.8 degrees North and longitude 61.0 degrees East, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the news agency ANI, the storm is located approximately 210 km southeast of Ras Al Hadd (Oman), 220 km east of Masirah (Oman), 780 km southwest of Karachi (Pakistan), 850 km west-southwest of Naliya, and 850 km west of Dwarka.
The storm is expected to recurve, moving nearly eastwards over the west-central and northwest Arabian Sea, further weakening into a depression by the forenoon of Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a Western Disturbance seen as a cyclonic circulation over Jammu and the neighbourhood at middle tropospheric levels.
A trough runs from north Bihar to north Odisha across Jharkhand at lower tropospheric levels, and another trough extends from coastal Andhra Pradesh to the Comorin area across Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu at lower tropospheric levels.

IMD has forecasted significant weather activity in East India due to prevailing weather systems.
Additionally, with heavy rainfall also forecasted in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today.
The IMD further predicts light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms at most places, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, across East India over the next 3-4 days.
Rain expected in South Marathwada, Vidarbha as IMD issues yellow alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the possibility of light to moderate intermittent showers over parts of the South Marathwada region and adjoining districts of Vidarbha during the next two to three hours.
Former head of the Climate Research and Services, IMD Pune, KS Hosalikar, while posting on the social media platform X, stated, “Possibility of light to moderate intermittent showers during the next 2–3 hours over parts of the South Marathwada region & adjacent districts of Vidarbha at isolated places.”
Kosalikar further posted the detailed rainfall data till October 5. As per the official data, Parbhani taluka received the highest rainfall at 121.4 mm, followed by Palam (73 mm), Gangakhed (56 mm), Purna (55 mm), Sonpeth (51 mm), Manwat (44 mm), Pathri (21 mm), Jintur (7 mm), and Selu (5 mm).
