CR announces mega block on its main line on Sunday, check details

The Central Railway, while sharing Mumbai local train updates, on Friday said that it will carry out a mega block on Sunday, October 19, 2025, for maintenance work.

An official statement said that to perform essential engineering and maintenance works the Mumbai division of Central Railway will operate a mega block.

“The block will affect Central Railway`s main line`s 5th and 6th tracks between Vidyavihar and Thane stations, from 8 am to 1:30 pm,” the statement said.

It said that several long-distance up and down Mail/Express trains will be diverted onto other lines, resulting in delays of 10 to 15 minutes.

The Central Railway shared the details of the affected trains due to the block.

The up trains diverted (Thane to Vidyavihar):

Harbour Line trains to be affected:

No Harbour line trains will operate between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra (down) from 11:40 am to 4:40 pm and Chunabhatti/Bandra and CSMT (up) from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm.

Suspended Services:

Down trains to Vashi/Belapur/Panvel from 11:16 am to 4:47 pm

Down trains to Bandra/Goregaon from 10:48 am to 4:43 pm

UP trains from Panvel/Belapur/Vashi to CSMT from 9:53 am to 3:20 pm

UP trains from Goregaon/Bandra to CSMT from 10:45 am to 5:13 pm

The Central Railway said that it has also made alternative arrangements for the passengers, special trains will run every 20 minutes between Panvel and Kurla (Platform 8) during the block hours.

It said that Harbour Line passengers can travel via Main Line and Western Railway routes between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Central Railway has requested passengers to cooperate during the block period, as the maintenance work is essential for infrastructure safety and improvement, the official statement said.

No block on Western Railway`s suburban section

Meanwhile, the Western Railway has said that there will be a no mega block on its suburban section this Sunday, (October 19) in view of the Diwali 2025 celebrations.

An official statement issued on Thursday said that there will be a no mega block on Sunday.

The decision aims to ensure smoother travel for Mumbaikars during the festival weekend, when passenger movement typically sees a surge, officials said.

Regular Sunday blocks are carried out for maintenance work, but have been temporarily suspended to avoid inconvenience to commuters, they said.
