Central Railway announces special blocks at Karjat, trains affected October 1–2

Central Railway will undertake special traffic and power blocks at Karjat station from September 26 to October 10 to carry out pre-non-interlocking works as part of the Karjat yard remodelling project.

The blocks will impact train operations on October 1 and October 2, with multiple suburban and long-distance trains either cancelled, short-terminated, short-originated, or rescheduled, the railways said in a statement on Monday.

Block timings:

October 1: 11:20 AM to 5:20 PM

October 2: 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Affected section: Bhivpuri–Jambrung Cabin–Thakurvadi–Nagnath Cabin–Karjat

Suburban train services:

During the block period, no suburban services will run between Karjat and Khopoli.

October 1 – Key Disruptions

Cancelled locals:

Down: Karjat–Khopoli at 12:00, 13:15, 15:39 hrs

Up: Khopoli–Karjat at 11:20, 12:40, 14:55 hrs

Short-terminated locals:

Several CSMT–Karjat trains will terminate at Neral, Ambarnath, or Thane.

Short-originated locals:

Karjat-originating locals will instead depart from Neral, Ambarnath, or Thane.

Mail/Express Train disruptions:

Trains like Jodhpur–Hadapsar Express, CSMT–Bhubaneswar Express, CSMT–Hyderabad Express, among others, will face regulation (controlled delays) at various stations.

Rescheduled trains include:

CSMT–Chennai Express (from 12:45 hrs to 15:30 hrs)

LTT–Madurai Express (from 13:15 hrs to 16:00 hrs)

Trains following certain services such as Ektanagar–Chennai Express and Deccan Queen may face delays of 15–20 minutes due to bunching.

October 2 – Similar impact:

Cancellations and short terminations continue for Karjat–Khopoli suburban trains.

Mail and express trains like the CSMT–Chennai Express, Jodhpur–Hadapsar Express, and LTT–Kakinada Express will be regulated en route.

Further 15–20 minute delays are expected for trains following major services like CSMT–Bhubaneshwar Express and CSMT–Hyderabad Express.

Passengers advised to check schedules

Railway authorities urged passengers to check updated train timings before travel and cooperate during the maintenance period, which is essential for infrastructure upgrades and safety.

Western Railway to run five pairs of festival special trains from October 1 to November 30

The Western Railway will operate Festival Special Trains on a special fare the Bandra Terminus–Sanganer (Rajasthan), Indore-Khadki, Indore–Hazrat Nizamuddin, Sabarmati–Patna, and Rajkot–Barauni (Bihar) corridors to cater to the high passenger footfall during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.

The details of the trains are as follows:

Bandra Terminus–Sanganer Superfast Weekly Special (Train Nos. 09023/09024)

Duration: 18 trips from October 2 to November 27.

Timings: 09023 departs Bandra Terminus every Thursday at 4.45 pm, reaching Sanganer at 12.30 pm the next day. Train 09024 departs Sanganer every Friday at 4.50 pm, arriving Bandra Terminus at 11.15 am next day.

Halts: Borivali, Palghar, Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Ratlam, Nagda (Madhya Pradesh), Chaumahla (Rajasthan), Shamgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Bhawani Mandi and Ramganj Mandi (Rajasthan), Kota, and Sawai Madhopur.

Coaches: AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, AC 3-Tier (Economy).

Sabarmati–Patna Weekly Special (Train Nos. 09427/09428)

Duration: 18 trips from October 1 to November 26

Timings: 09427 departs Sabarmati every Wednesday at 6.10 pm, reaching Patna at 1 am on Friday; 09428 departs Patna every Friday at 4.40 am, arriving Sabarmati at 9.55 am the next day.

Halts: Mahesana, Palanpur (Gujarat), Abu Road, Marwar, Ajmer, Jaipur, Gandhi Nagar Jaipur, Dausa, Bharatpur, Achhnera, Idgah Agra, Tundla, Etawah, Kanpur Central, Prayagraj Jn, Mirzapur, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Buxar, Ara, Danapur.

Coaches: AC 3-Tier.
