The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday announced a a 12-hour water supply cut in Mulund west area of Mumbai on Saturday, July 19, 2025 for pipeline repair works.
The Mumbai civic body stated that the residents of certain areas in Mulund (West) under the `T` ward will face a 12-hour water supply cut on Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm, due to essential pipeline work.
BMC will be carrying out work to connect a new 600 mm water pipeline on the proposed development road at Yogi Hill Marg, Veena Nagar, Mulund (West).
Due to this work, the water supply in some parts of the `T` ward will be completely shut off during the specified period.
Affected areas in Mulund West) include Malabar Hill Road, Swapnanagari, Veena Nagar, Model Town Road, Yogi Hill Road, Ghatipada and B.R. Road (usual supply time: 7 pm to 1 pm next day)
The BMC has urged all residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly during the shutdown. After the water supply resumes, citizens are advised to filter and boil water before use for at least 3 to 4 days, as a precautionary health measure.
The BMC has appealed to the public for cooperation and support during the necessary maintenance work.
Lake levels in seven reservoirs supplying water to the city at 78.30 per cent
Meanwhile, the water levels in lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai have risen following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the combined stock in the seven reservoirs that provide water to the city now stands at 78.30 per cent.
As per BMC records on Tuesday (July 15), the collective water stock in these reservoirs is 11,33,347 million litres, which amounts to 78.30 per cent of their total capacity.
The BMC supplies drinking water daily from Upper Vaitarna, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Vihar, and Tulsi lakes.
