Ajay Devgn`s Son of Sardaar 2 has a Golmaal 5 connection; here`s how

Ajay Devgn`s comedy film Son of Sardaar 2 has hit the screens today. The film features an ensemble cast including Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Kubbra Sait, Sanjay Mishra, and more. Now, it has been revealed that the film includes an unexpected cameo by a well-known filmmaker.

Rohit Shetty makes cameo in Son of Sardaar 2

Director Rohit Shetty makes a surprise appearance towards the climax of the film. In the final scenes, Shetty- who has worked extensively with Ajay Devgn in films like Golmaal and Singham– appears on screen and refers to the actor as “Boss.” He then officially announces Golmaal 5.

This announcement has created quite a buzz, as the Golmaal series has a dedicated fan base and has long been awaiting a new installment.

While further details about Golmaal 5 have not been revealed, fans can expect the return of familiar faces from the franchise such as Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu, and Shreyas Talpade. If all goes as planned, Golmaal 5 may hit theatres in 2026.

Ajay and Rohit have worked together in as many as 12 films – Zameen (2003), Golmaal (2006), Sunday (2008), Golmaal Returns (2008), All The Best (2009), Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Golmaal Again (2017), Simmba (2018), Sooryavanshi (2021) and Singham Again (2024). Golmaal 5 will be their thirteenth film together.

Rohit Shetty`s work front

The filmmaker is currently busy with the shoot of the Rakesh Maria biopic. The film starring John Abraham is the screen adaptation of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Maria’s autobiography, Let Me Say It Now, and traces some of his significant cases. mid-day has learnt that Shetty and actor John Abraham are currently filming in Ellora Studios, where a set of a police station has been built. During this two-week leg, the actor-director duo will focus on dramatic police station scenes and high-intensity interrogation sequences.  

According to unit sources, the movie includes five major action set-pieces, all of which will be filmed towards August-end. The film is aiming for a 2026 release. The insider adds, “The post-production will begin soon. Rohit is approaching this one differently. It’s not just an action spectacle; it will be a deep dive into the mind of a man who faced some of Mumbai’s darkest chapters.”
