All eyes were on ‘No Entry Mein Entry’ as Anees Bazmee was bringing the sequel to ‘No Entry’ (2005) after two decades. However, with the makers still finalising the comedy’s cast, trade buzz is that the director will most likely kick off his other project, tentatively titled ‘Ram Aur Shyam’, early next year. The film is said to be in advanced stages of development, with Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Kartik Aaryan rumoured to be the contenders for the double role.
‘Ram Aur Shyam’ instantly brings Dilip Kumar’s 1967 classic to mind, but insiders insist that Bazmee’s version is different. A trade insider told mid-day, “Anees sir has been toying with this concept for a while. The idea is not to remake the classic, but to reinterpret the twin theme for a new generation.”

Aaryan is a strong contender for the role, having fronted the second and third part of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, helmed by Bazmee. The trouble, however, is his date diary. The insider added, “All three actors have a packed schedule. Ranveer starts ‘Don 3’ in January, Kartik has ‘Naagzilla’. After Ranbir wraps up ‘Love & War’, he will dive into ‘Dhoom 4’ prep. The other actor on Anees sir’s mind is Shahid Kapoor. If the dates work out, the film could start by February-end.”
If Kartik Aaryan leads the film, it will be his third collaboration with Anees Bazmee after the second and third instalments of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa`
