Mumbai: Fire breaks out at building in Jogeshwari, no injuries reported

A fire erupted on Thursday morning at a building in Mumbai`s Jogeshwari area, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The incident occurred at the JNS Business Center on S V Road, Behrampada, near Gandhi School in Jogeshwari West. The incident was first reported at 10:51 am, and the BMC’s Fire Brigade (MFB) issued the updated Level-III alert at 11:17 am.

The MFB, along with the police, 108 Ambulance services, Public Works Department (PWD), BMC ward staff, and personnel from the relevant electricity distribution company, were deployed to the site.

Blaze erupts in Malad residential building; firefighter, man suffer minor injuries

In another incident, a fire broke out in a residential building in Mumbai`s western suburb of Malad West on Wednesday, injuring a resident and a firefighter, who was involved in the operation to douse it, officials said.

The fire brigade received a call at 5.06 am about a blaze at the seven-storey Bhumi Classic near Inorbit Mall on the Link Road, a civic official said.

The fire had spread to multiple closed flats on the sixth and seventh floors of the building, he said.

Multiple fire engines were sent to the spot, and the fire was put out after about two hours, the official said.

One Shubham Agotaria, 24, suffered an injury on his left hand. He was treated at Lifeline Hospital in the area before being discharged, the official said.

A senior station officer was taken to Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Hospital, Jogeshwari (East), after he suffered a minor injury during the firefighting operation.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the official said.

There was another fire in a residential building in the Gorai area in Borivali East around noon, the official said.

“There has been no report of any injury to anyone,” he said, adding that firefighting was underway at the spot.

Fire erupts at cotton godown in Thane; no casualty reported

Meanwhile, a major fire broke out at a cotton godown in Maharashtra`s Thane district on Wednesday morning, officials said.

There was no report of any casualty so far, they said.

The blaze was reported around 6 am at the godown located at Rahnal village in Bhiwandi town. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the warehouse.

Multiple fire engines from the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation were rushed to the spot and firefighting was currently underway, the civic body`s disaster control cell chief Saquib Kharbe said.

The cause of the blaze was yet to be ascertained.
