Portion of house collapses in Mumbai`s Byculla, no injuries reported

A portion of a ground-plus-one residential structure collapsed in Mumbai`s Byculla (West) area on Wednesday afternoon. The incident was reported from Banushala Building located on Sakhali Street in Madanpura.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade, which was reported about the mishap at 12.49 pm, has called it a Level-I emergency. 

According to information provided by the fire brigade, a portion of the structure caved in. No injuries have been reported in the incident.

After receiving the call, the fire brigade mobilised personnel to the site at 1 pm. Local police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) ward staff have also been deployed in the area.

According of the latest update received at 1.07 am, the site has been secured and authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and assess the structural integrity of the remaining portion of the building.

Mumbai: Two injured as part of residential building collapses in Chira Bazaar

Two elderly persons were injured on Wednesday morning when a section of a residential building collapsed in South Mumbai`s Chira Bazaar area, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 6:23 am at the Aatmaram Building on JSS Road, a MHADA-owned structure. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), part of the first-floor kitchen in room number 11 gave way and fell to the ground floor.

BMC’s fire brigade local police, MHADA authorities, 108 Ambulance services, and ward staff were immediately mobilised to the site.

Two residents were injured in the collapse. Thakkarji Gala, 75, sustained minor injuries but refused hospital treatment. Gunvanti Gala, 71, was admitted to Bhatia Hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition, according to the ‘C’ Ward Control Room.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, and the site has been secured to prevent further incidents.

Blaze erupts in Mumbai residential building; firefighter, man suffer minor injuries

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in a residential building in Mumbai`s western suburb of Malad West on Wednesday, injuring a resident and a firefighter, who was involved in the operation to douse it, officials said.

The fire brigade received a call at 5.06 am about a blaze at the seven-storey Bhumi Classic near Inorbit Mall on the Link Road, a civic official said.

The fire had spread to multiple closed flats on the sixth and seventh floors of the building, he said.

Multiple fire engines were sent to the spot, and the fire was put out after about two hours, the official said.

One Shubham Agotaria, 24, suffered an injury on his left hand. He was treated at Lifeline Hospital in the area before being discharged, the official said.

A senior station officer was taken to Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Hospital, Jogeshwari (East), after he suffered a minor injury during the firefighting operation.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the official said.
