Vignesh Shivan’s directorial Love Insurance Kompany was all set to release on Diwali. However, earlier this month, the makers announced that the film would not be released on the festive day and revealed a new date. With this, the makers avoided a clash with Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude, who also stars in Love Insurance Kompany.
Vignesh Shivan on Love Insurance Kompany not releasing on Diwali
On the occasion of Diwali, director Vignesh Shivan shared pictures from his celebration with his wife and actress Nayanthara, and their twins. Along with the happy family moments, he reflected on his film not releasing on Diwali and how it took away some of his happiness. The director began his note by revealing that it had been ten years since his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which featured Nayanthara in the lead — the film where the two began falling in love.
“I had dreamt of this day so differently. A day when Love Insurance Kompany would have reached all your hearts. Your smiles, your words, your love would have made this day even more special for me. Somewhere deep down, I had kept my happiness saved for that moment. But life, in its quiet wisdom, taught me something far more beautiful today,” he wrote.
He shared that even without his “big moment,” he found himself smiling peacefully as he celebrated Diwali in Hyderabad instead of Chennai.
“We chase milestones thinking they’ll make us happy, but happiness is not such a tough destination. If you keep the rules for it simple and silly, it can be a gentle pause from everything else that keeps you busy — a sense of calmness, a feeling of satisfaction,” he added.
Explaining what he now describes as true wins, Vignesh wrote, “A warm hug from your loving wife, that kiss reassuring the deep love that’s lasted over a decade. The innocent laughter of your babies looking straight into your eyes, knowing nothing about the pain hidden inside. Your family and friends’ unconditional love, saying sweet things just to make you feel better.”
Why Love Insurance Kompany got postponed
On October 6, the makers announced on social media, “Like two trains on the same track, a head-on collision helps no one. With genuine concern for our beloved hero Pradeep Ranganathan and respect for the efforts behind both films, we’ve thoughtfully decided to reschedule the release of LIK to December 18, 2025.”
They further added, “Despite our best efforts to coordinate with Mythri Movies, we couldn’t find common ground, and we believe it’s wiser to let both films shine without overlap. We extend our heartfelt wishes to Pradeep Ranganathan and the entire team of Dude for a joyous Diwali and grand box-office success.”
Dude, which also stars Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead, is directed by Keerthiswaran, with Sai Abhyankkar and Mamitha Baiju making their Tamil debuts as music composer and actor, respectively. The film was set to release on October 17, prompting the rescheduling of LIK’s release.
